Windshield Wiper Cleaning Methods
It is impossible to imagine a car without a windshield wiper, as the driver would be spending all his time in wiping the windshield and would not be able to concentrate on driving and imagine the implications and complications, it would cause. This is indeed dangerous and hence the importance of windshield wiper has to be realized.
But when it comes to the replacement of windshield wipers, it is highly irritating, as wipers often tend to wear out quickly. This is because the rubber in the blade wears off and becomes obsolete. There are quite a few reasons for this like, the usage of windshield wipers to remove hard snow.
This usually occurs because people feel lazy to clear the windshield properly and so, turn the windshield wipers just to get rid of the snow. This may clear off the snow but it is not good for the windshield wipers. Since the blades are made of rubber, using them in this way deforms them.
Also, it is a bad habit to scrape the ice off the windshield. Some people may also splatter a little windshield washer liquid on the windshield to get the ice wet and then use the windshield wiper blades to scratch it off. Though this method gets rid of the ice, it damages the blades, as well.
Winter is not the only enemy for the windshield wipers. There are people who use windshield wipers to clean the windshield of dirt, sticks and other debris, without using the windshield washer fluid. Another instance where the wiper blades get affected is, using the wiper blades on dry grass.
When the debris has to be got rid off, it is advisable to first use the windshield washer fluid and thus make the blades move faster. The windshield washer fluid makes the wiper blades glide smoothly on the surface of the windshield. In this way, scraping of windshield will be avoided and if it is done, it causes a horrible noise when the blades get dry.
When such mistakes are avoided, the windshield wiper blade can be maintained in proper condition. Simple tips like cleaning the wiper with vinegar and wet cloth can put it back to work. But when the wiper blades create noise while using or leave streaks on the windshield, it is high time that the wipers are replaced.
